10 The Short Speech is a prepared, three-minute speech in front of the class during which students describe a person and answer questions. Students are allowed to use notes for this.
Midterm Speaking Test (Pair Role Play)

15 The Midterm Speaking Test is a two-person role play activity. Pairs randomly select a role play and must act out a series of activities and have a discussion for about six minutes. Students must prepare before the evaluation and cannot read from notes.

10 The Impromptu Speech is an unprepared, one-and-a-half-minute speech given in front of the class. Students select a random topic and are given two minutes to prepare before speaking. Students are not allowed to use notes for this.
Final Speaking Test (Group Role Play)

20 The Final Speaking Test is a three or four-person role play. Groups randomly select a role play and must act out a series of activities and have a discussion for about 12 minutes. Groups must prepare before the evaluation and cannot read from notes.

5 The Self-Study Assignments consist of seven sets of listening exercises distributed approximately every other week throughout the term via Google Classroom. Students must complete the exercises outside of class and submit the exercises to their teacher.
